Contending for Destiny

Contending for Destiny

Introduction

We are reminded that God has called each of us with purpose, and we must contend for the destiny He has prepared for our lives. The prophetic promises spoken over us are not merely words to admire but invitations to grow, mature, and align ourselves with God’s will. As it is written, “fight the good fight of faith” 1 Timothy 6:12, we understand that destiny often requires spiritual endurance, discipline, and perseverance.

We recognise that there is a constant battle between the flesh and the spirit, and we cannot fulfil God’s purpose while living carelessly. Through prayer, obedience, and surrender to God, we strengthen our spiritual lives and position ourselves to walk fully in the calling He has placed upon us.

We are warned not to allow worldly culture to shape our thinking or weaken our faith. Many distractions pull believers away from holiness and intimacy with God, creating confusion and compromise. As it is written, “be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind” Romans 12:2, we are encouraged to remain spiritually focused and set apart.

Who is Pastor Obed Ansu and What Was Shared?

We were encouraged through the teaching brought by Pastor Obed Ansu, who spoke passionately about destiny, spiritual warfare, and living a consecrated life before God. The focus was on understanding that every believer has a prophetic purpose that must be protected and pursued with diligence. As it is written, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord” Jeremiah 29:11, we are reminded that God already has a plan prepared for our lives.

We are challenged not to live casually or without direction, but to seek God intentionally so we can walk fully in the purpose He has ordained for us. Through prayer, humility, and obedience, we position ourselves to overcome opposition and fulfil our calling.

What is the Main Theme About Destiny?

We learn that destiny requires both spiritual maturity and perseverance. God’s promises often test us before they manifest, shaping our character and strengthening our faith along the way. As it is written, “though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come” Habakkuk 2:3, we are encouraged not to lose heart while waiting for God’s timing.

We understand that fulfilment does not happen automatically. There is a need for discipline, consistency, and spiritual growth so that we can carry the blessings and responsibilities attached to our destiny.

How Does the Word of the Lord Test Us?

We are reminded that prophetic promises often come with seasons of testing and preparation. God uses these moments to refine us and align our present condition with our future calling. As it is written concerning Joseph, “the word of the Lord tried him” Psalm 105:19, we see that testing is part of spiritual development.

We learn to trust God even when circumstances appear difficult or delayed. Instead of giving up, we continue praying, growing, and believing that God is preparing us for what He has spoken over our lives.

What Are Gatekeepers in Spiritual Warfare?

We understand that gatekeepers are spiritual forces that attempt to block doors of opportunity, advancement, and destiny. These barriers can create repeated delays and frustration if left unchallenged through prayer. As it is written, “for a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries” 1 Corinthians 16:9, we recognise that opposition often accompanies purpose.

We are encouraged not to become discouraged by resistance. Through faith, fasting, and persistent prayer, God gives us the strength to overcome every obstacle standing before us.

How Are Strongholds Described?

We learn that strongholds are spiritual fortresses that keep people trapped in cycles of fear, sin, stagnation, or limitation. These strongholds influence thinking and behaviour, preventing progress and spiritual freedom. As it is written, “casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God” 2 Corinthians 10:5, we are called to pull down every spiritual barrier.

We refuse to remain bound by destructive patterns or negative influences. Through God’s Word, prayer, and obedience, we can break free and walk in the liberty Christ has given us.

Who Are the Princes of Darkness?

We are taught that princes of darkness are powerful demonic forces assigned to oppose destinies and hinder God’s purposes. Biblical figures such as Pharaoh and Herod illustrate how spiritual opposition can work against God’s people. As it is written, “we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities” Ephesians 6:12, we understand the seriousness of spiritual warfare.

We do not fear these forces because God has already given believers authority through Jesus Christ. By remaining spiritually alert and prayerful, we can stand firm against every attack of the enemy.

What Does Daniel Teach Us About Consecration?

We are inspired by Daniel’s decision to remain faithful to God despite living in a corrupt culture. He protected his spiritual identity by refusing to compromise. As it is written, “Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself” Daniel 1:8, we see the importance of guarding our convictions.

We are reminded that consecration requires intentional choices every day. By resisting compromise and staying close to God, we preserve our spiritual strength and remain aligned with our destiny.

What is the Battle Between Flesh and Spirit?

We recognise that there is a constant struggle between fleshly desires and spiritual growth. The flesh seeks comfort and compromise, while the spirit calls us towards holiness and obedience. As it is written, “the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh” Galatians 5:17, we understand why spiritual discipline is necessary.

We cannot fulfil our destiny while continually feeding the flesh. Through prayer, fasting, and renewing our minds with God’s Word, we strengthen our spirit and gain victory over temptation.

Why Was Jesus Tempted?

We learn that Jesus experienced temptation so He could fully understand human weakness and become our compassionate High Priest. Yet despite every temptation, He remained without sin. As it is written, “yet without sin” Hebrews 4:15, we are encouraged that victory over temptation is possible through God’s strength.

We take comfort knowing that Jesus understands our struggles personally. Because He overcame, we also have grace and power available to stand firm during difficult moments.

What Does It Mean to Walk in the Spirit?

We understand that walking in the Spirit means living with continual awareness of God’s presence and allowing Him to guide our actions and decisions. As it is written, “Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh” Galatians 5:16, we see that spiritual victory comes through daily connection with God.

We choose to stay spiritually sensitive through prayer, worship, and obedience. The closer we walk with God, the stronger we become against temptation and distraction.

Why is Personal Responsibility Important for Spiritual Growth?

We are reminded that while pastors and leaders can pray for us, spiritual growth ultimately requires personal commitment and discipline. No one else can maintain our relationship with God for us. As it is written, “work out your own salvation with fear and trembling” Philippians 2:12, we are encouraged to take responsibility for our spiritual lives.

We grow by spending personal time in prayer, studying scripture, and applying God’s truth consistently. Spiritual maturity comes through daily obedience and intentional pursuit of God.

What Price Must Be Paid for Destiny?

We learn that destiny requires sacrifice, humility, obedience, and self-control. Great purpose cannot be fulfilled through careless living or spiritual laziness. As it is written, “if any man will come after me, let him deny himself” Matthew 16:24, we understand that surrender is necessary for growth.

We choose to follow Christ wholeheartedly, even when the journey requires discipline and perseverance. Through God’s grace, every sacrifice made for Him produces eternal reward and spiritual fruitfulness.

How Does Babylon Influence Modern Christian Life?

We are warned that Babylon represents confusion, compromise, and worldly systems that pull believers away from God’s truth. Modern culture, media, and unhealthy relationships can influence believers if they are not spiritually grounded. As it is written, “come out from among them, and be ye separate” 2 Corinthians 6:17, we are called to live differently.

We choose discernment over compromise and truth over confusion. By staying rooted in scripture and prayer, we can resist worldly pressure and remain faithful to God’s purpose.

Why Must Strongholds Be Broken?

We see through the story of Israel under Midianite oppression that strongholds keep people hiding in fear and limitation. Freedom only came when false altars were destroyed and God’s authority was restored. As it is written, “throw down the altar of Baal” Judges 6:25, we are reminded that spiritual bondage must be confronted directly.

We cannot move forward while holding onto influences that oppose God’s will. Through repentance, prayer, and obedience, we break destructive cycles and walk into freedom.

Why is Personal Prayer More Important Than Conferences?

We are encouraged to value personal time with God above constantly seeking public gatherings alone. Conferences may inspire us, but private prayer builds intimacy and spiritual strength. As it is written, “when thou prayest, enter into thy closet” Matthew 6:6, we see the importance of secret communion with God.

We grow deeper spiritually when we consistently seek God in private. Quiet moments of prayer often produce the greatest transformation and clarity for our lives.

What is the Difference Between Impartation and Manifestation?

We learn that impartation is the activation of spiritual gifts or power, while manifestation is the visible evidence produced through continued connection with God. Receiving prayer alone is not enough without personal commitment afterwards. As it is written, “stir up the gift of God” 2 Timothy 1:6, we are reminded to nurture what God has placed within us.

We must remain prayerful, disciplined, and spiritually connected for what has been imparted to become fruitful and effective in our daily lives.

Why Are Humility and Pride So Important?

We understand that pride blocks spiritual growth, while humility attracts God’s grace and favour. As it is written, “God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble” James 4:6, we see that humility is essential for elevation in God’s kingdom.

We choose to remain teachable and dependent on God rather than relying on ourselves. Through humility, we become vessels God can use for greater purpose and blessing.

How Does Spiritual Geography Affect Prayer?

We are taught that certain places carry heavy spiritual influences because of longstanding altars, sacrifices, or sinful practices. These environments can create spiritual resistance that requires deeper prayer and discernment. As it is written, “the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me” Daniel 10:13, we understand that spiritual opposition can affect regions and territories.

We build spiritual capacity through fasting, prayer, and consistent fellowship with God so we can overcome resistance and stand firm wherever He places us.

What is the Significance of the Altar of Baal?

We learn that the altar of Baal symbolises ungodly influences and compromises that give the enemy access into a person’s life or family. These spiritual altars must be destroyed if freedom and progress are to come. As it is written, “throw down the altar of Baal” Judges 6:25, we are called to remove everything that opposes God’s authority.

We choose to dedicate our homes, hearts, and lives fully to God. By rejecting every unhealthy influence and remaining faithful to Him, we create space for spiritual growth, peace, and breakthrough.
