Easter Day 3: Redeemed and Restored Through Christ

Introduction
We reflect on Jesus’ mission and see that He came to bring healing, freedom, and restoration to every part of our lives. As He declared, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me… to preach deliverance to the captives… to set at liberty them that are bruised” Luke 4:18, we recognise that His work is still active today. We remember how He opened blind eyes, as with Bartimaeus, and how He called Lazarus out of the grave, showing us that no situation is beyond His power. This reminds us that Jesus is not distant, but present and working in us now.
We also see that He breaks every form of bondage, just as He delivered the man in Gadara, proving that nothing can hold us when He steps in. Because of His sacrifice, we can boldly declare our freedom, for “if the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed” John 8:36. We choose to trust Him again, laying down every burden and believing that He is able to transform even the deepest struggles within us.
Living in Freedom Through Faith and the Power of the Cross
We respond by drawing near in prayer, knowing that His blood speaks on our behalf. The Word assures us that “they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony” Revelation 12:11, so we hold on to our testimonies and continue to speak life over our situations. As we come before Him, we allow His power to break cycles of sin, renew our minds, and restore our hope, choosing to walk in the victory He has already secured for us.
We also commit to supporting the work of God with willing hearts, trusting that as we give, He provides abundantly. As it is written, “give, and it shall be given unto you” Luke 6:38, we step out in faith, knowing that God is faithful to supply all our needs. Together, we live with expectation, embracing His grace, walking in freedom, and continually experiencing the transforming power of Jesus in our daily lives.
The Mission of Jesus and the Power of His Word
We reflect on the moment Jesus stood to read, declaring, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me… to preach the gospel to the poor… to set at liberty them that are bruised” Luke 4:18-19. In this, we see His purpose clearly—to heal, restore, and bring freedom. We understand that His mission was not only for that time, but for us today. As we receive His Word, we begin to see that no area of our lives is beyond His reach, and His power is still available to transform us completely.
We are reminded through His works that He healed the sick, opened blind eyes, and raised the dead, showing us the fullness of His authority. The same Jesus who called Lazarus forth still calls us out of every limitation today. Because He lives, we hold on to the truth that His power is present and active, working in us and through us as we believe.
Freedom from Sin Through the Blood of Jesus
We recognise that sin carries a heavy consequence, as “the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” Romans 6:23. We see how sin seeks to bind and destroy, but through Jesus, we are given life and freedom. His blood was shed so that we would no longer live in bondage, and we choose to embrace that gift with gratitude and faith.
As we understand the power of His sacrifice, we boldly declare that we are redeemed and set free. The Word reminds us that “in whom we have redemption through his blood” Ephesians 1:7, and so we stand firm in that truth, refusing to return to what once held us captive. We trust fully in what He has done and walk forward in newness of life.
Responding in Faith and Surrender
We are encouraged to respond with open hearts, choosing to trust Jesus again no matter our past experiences. As it is written, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” Matthew 11:28, we take that invitation personally. We lay down our burdens and give Him space to move in our lives, believing that He is able to do far more than we can imagine.
In moments where we feel bound or overwhelmed, we step forward in faith, knowing that freedom is available to us. We do not hold back but respond willingly, trusting that as we draw near to Him, He will meet us with power, healing, and restoration.
Living a Life of Faith, Giving, and Expectation
We learn to put God first in every area, including our giving, trusting that He honours obedience. The Word teaches us, “seek ye first the kingdom of God… and all these things shall be added unto you” Matthew 6:33, reminding us that when we prioritise Him, He takes care of our needs. We step out in faith, even when it is not easy, believing that God is our provider.
As we live this way, we begin to see His faithfulness in practical ways. We grow in confidence, knowing that God rewards obedience and trust. Together, we walk forward with expectation, knowing that as we honour Him, He will continue to open doors, bless our lives, and establish us in His purpose.
