The Wisdom of God: Father’s Day Special

Introduction
Reverend Gordon Gyasi delivered a Father’s Day sermon focusing on faith, obedience, and wisdom from God’s word. He encouraged the congregation to serve the Lord wholeheartedly, teaching children the ways of God to ensure their spiritual growth and future righteousness.
The sermon included biblical references such as Psalm 119:105, Numbers 23:19, Proverbs 1:7, and Colossians 3:20-21, emphasising that God is faithful and His word is true. Reverend Gyasi stressed the importance of prayer as the master key to overcoming temptation and challenges, urging believers to live righteously, forgive others, and maintain a strong relationship with God.
Personal testimonies illustrated the power of God’s glory and faithfulness in daily life. He concluded with a blessing, affirming that those who diligently seek God will be rewarded, their lives transformed, and their faith strengthened, promising growth and blessings for the church and its members.
God’s Unchanging Truth
The scripture cited is, “God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?” Numbers 23:19. This reveals the unchanging nature of God and assures believers that His word is certain and His promises unfailing.
Unlike man, whose words can falter, God’s truth endures forever. As it is written, “The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever” Isaiah 40:8. Therefore, believers can rest in His wisdom, trusting that what He has declared will surely come to pass.
The Source of Faith
Faith comes through hearing the Word of God, for “faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” Romans 10:17. As believers open their hearts to God’s Word, their trust in Him grows, and they are equipped to stand firm in every circumstance.
This truth shows that faith is not self-produced but rooted in God’s revelation. As it is written, “Without faith it is impossible to please him” Hebrews 11:6. By continually hearing and obeying Scripture, Christians receive strength to walk in God’s wisdom and live victoriously.
The Wisdom of God
The wisdom of God begins with the fear of the Lord, as written, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding” Proverbs 9:10. It calls believers to live righteously, forgive others, and apply His Word in every situation. God’s wisdom is pure, peaceable, and full of mercy James 3:17, guiding Christians to walk uprightly.
By relying on God’s wisdom, believers gain strength to face challenges with faith and clarity. As it is written, “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God… and it shall be given him” James 1:5. True wisdom is not found in human reasoning but in God’s truth, which equips His people to overcome trials and remain steadfast.
Overcoming Temptation
Believers are taught to resist temptation through prayer and the Word of God. Jesus Himself declared, “It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone” Matthew 4:4, defeating the devil with Scripture. Christians are also instructed to avoid ungodly influences and to “abstain from all appearance of evil” 1 Thessalonians 5:22.
Persistent prayer is vital, for Jesus warned, “Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation” Matthew 26:41. By seeking God’s strength daily, believers are empowered to overcome the snares of the enemy and remain faithful to their calling.
The Power of Prayer
Prayer is described as the master key that brings change, endurance, and alignment with God’s will. Jesus showed this in Gethsemane, praying, “Nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done” Luke 22:42. Prayer opens heaven’s resources and strengthens the heart in trials.
Through prayer, believers gain peace and assurance. Scripture declares, “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much” James 5:16. It is through this constant communion with God that Christians are able to remain steadfast and victorious.
Training a Child
God’s Word emphasizes the importance of early instruction: “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it” Proverbs 22:6. Parents and guardians are entrusted with guiding children in truth, planting seeds of faith that will endure through life.
This training involves both teaching and living as an example. As Paul reminded Timothy, “From a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation” 2 Timothy 3:15. Godly training ensures future generations walk in wisdom and righteousness.
The Presence and Glory of God
The presence and glory of God distinguish His people from the world. Scripture declares, “Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee” Isaiah 60:1. His glory brings favor, blessing, and protection, making His people radiant even in dark times.
When God’s glory rests on believers, they become living testimonies of His power. As Moses prayed, “If thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence” Exodus 33:15. With His presence, believers are strengthened, blessed, and made fruitful in every area of life.
